From Wax to Jewelry: Intro to Wax Carving For Casting
For any skill level, join in this two session class where you learn the traditional methods of wax caving as you create your own one of a kind ring.
On day 1, learn the essential skills of laying out a pattern, boring out your ring size, cutting, carving, and preparing the wax to be cast. Start day 2 with the raw silver casting and you’ll learn the finer points of metal finishing to complete your ring.
All supplies and materials are included for 1 ring. Great for anyone new to making jewelry or students looking to refresh their old skills. No Prerequisite.
Please Note: There is a limit to the total volume of the ring and Lindsey will help you work within this boundary during class.
Casting takes place outside of class time and students will be provided with a list of resources and local casting services for future projects. The cost to set up your own casting studio is a major limiting factor so instead of assuming that is your goal, this class is budget minded and focused on setting you up for future wax working and casting success!
You will use sharp tools and and an open flame when wax working. Enrollees assume these risks and are expected to adhere to the safety guidelines taught in class.
